Spider-Geddon was conceived as a direct sequel to Dan Slott's 2014 Spider-Verse event; Gage stepped into the lead writer role because Slott was simultaneously shepherding the relaunched Fantastic Four and Tony Stark: Iron Man titles. The creative team of writer Christos Gage and primary artist Jorge Molina was publicly announced on June 29, 2018 in a press release, with the series formally kicking off in October of that year under editor Nick Lowe. Although Dan Slott receives a story-development co-credit on issue #4 specifically — he is not listed as a formal writer on the issue — reflecting the collaborative hand-off between the two architects of the Spider-Verse mythology. Issue #4 shipped November 21, 2018, with penciling split between Jorge Molina and Carlo Barberi, inks by Jay Leisten and José Marzan Jr., colors by David Curiel, and lettering by Travis Lanham.
