Speed Comics #9 is an anthology featuring multiple stories. The lead story follows Shock Gibson, the Human Dynamo, who pursues an escaping opponent, makes a terrific leap, and lands safely on an airplane flying over the Pacific. In "Big Bannon of the U.S. Marines," written by Rem Brant, Marines are stationed at the Philippine Islands reporting secret agents' activities, and at headquarters discuss safeguarding the U.S. from being dragged into war while airplanes scout for anything unusual. A third story features Jack battling the villain Landor—a monster-maker who captures Jack and uses Marcia as leverage, forcing Jack to fight Landor repeatedly until Jack obtains a solution to restore Marcia's sight and escapes the castle, though Landor vows continued revenge.
