Spectacular Spider-Man #8
The third chapter of "Countdown" arrives in this 2004 Marvel series, and the cover by Humberto Ramos and Wayne Faucher wastes no time setting the mood — Spider-Man lunges forward across a rooftop ledge, one hand outstretched, while a massive mechanical tentacle arcs menacingly overhead and a dark-caped, brooding figure looms in the background. The dynamic composition captures the wall-crawler mid-action, caught between agility and something much more dangerous closing in around him. With Paul Jenkins writing and Ramos's kinetic linework driving the visuals, this "Countdown" installment looks like a genuinely tense chapter in the arc.
