Spawn #197
In Spawn #197, Marc pushes the limits of Jim’s healing power by testing it on a man in a wheelchair—only to see him walk again, sparking tension between the two. Jim, frustrated and worn down, demands Marc leave him alone, but before he can retreat, the mysterious Redeemer arrives with a revelation about the fallen angel Payaso once cut down. Now, Payaso believes Redeemer is after the new Spawn, and he’s ready to strike. Written by Todd McFarlane and Carlos Fernando Rivera Gómez, with art by Whilce Portacio and inks by McFarlane, this issue’s cover by Portacio and McFarlane captures the escalating stakes in a striking, shadow-drenched image.
