Sparkler Comics #44 is an anthology issue featuring multiple stories. The lead story involves a young woman demanding to see a man named Scott at his Hollywood apartment, followed by a narrative involving Mr. Kent, Mr. Herman, and several girls who disappear from work; Herman discovers information about the girls' whereabouts in Chick Gumbo's newspaper column and works to save them. The issue also includes "Sparkler Salutes," a non-fiction section honoring military personnel who performed heroic acts during World War II, including Lt. Emmet Burrows and others who prevented the destruction of the Ludendorff bridge at Remagen, Germany, and Cpl. James F. Dwyer, a tankman who risked his life to save a wounded soldier. Additional content features Ella Cinders and Tippie in humorous comic strips.
