While Danny and his father Dilbury wait in Concarnio for their partner Gomez to return, Ma Dingle is visited by Jellicoe, a former suitor. He's now a wealthy man and "practically own[s]" Concarnio, and thinks perhaps he'll be able to get Dilbury out of the way and win Ma back.
