"Monster-Men" in Sparkler Comics #2 (1945) delivers a delightfully absurd romp from artist and inker Dib, where Bombo and Biltybux’s quest for wives takes a bizarre turn when Bombo briefly wins Gwladys—only to bolt during the ceremony to call his mom. With a cover by Burne Hogarth capturing the comic’s zany spirit, the issue’s charm lies in its silly stakes and sudden twists, all anchored in the very specific, wonderfully odd world of its characters.

El BomboMr. BiltybuxGwladys

In this 1945 humor tale from Sparkler Comics #2, Bombo and Biltybux set off once more in search of wives, only to find themselves tangled in a whirlwind of mistaken intentions and sudden weddings. When Bombo meets Gwladys, who vows to marry the first man she sees—only to have that man be Bombo—his joy is short-lived when he bolts mid-ceremony to call his mother, leaving her free to wed Pipwilliger Piggindiggle. Undeterred, Bombo then tries to convince Biltybux to marry a widow with nine children, but even that plan falls flat.
