"The Metal Murderers of Mars" follows the Avenger and his companion Teena as they battle diabolical robots on Mars while pursuing the villainous Gargoyle, culminating in Teena being captured and sold into slavery to Prince Raga-Xan for twenty thousand credits. A second story involves Rod Hathaway investigating a murder connected to Spanish revolutionaries financing munitions smuggling aboard the submarine Nautilus, with a fellow investigator named Thomas Allen killed to silence him about the conspiracy.
The Avenger tracks his arch-enemy the Gargoyle across the solar system after the criminal escapes custody and goes underground for a year, leaving only a clue in the form of a mask sold through a Mercury City shop. On Mercury, the space detective and his secretary Teena discover the Gargoyle has undergone a complete facial reconstruction and is now posing as Warden William Reet, using the bat-women prisoners to steal jewels and loot for his escape. When the Avenger's plan to follow the bat-women to their hideout goes awry, Teena is captured—and the Gargoyle makes for his loaded spaceship, vowing to spirit her away to another world.
The Avenger and his secretary Teena answer an emergency call to Mars, where rogue robots have begun terrorizing the colony and committing murders and theft—a crime pattern that points to their old nemesis Gargoyle. Racing to uncover the villain's control mechanism before he can strike the Federal Mint, the space detective must navigate a deadly trap set in the rocky Martian mountains while his partner faces capture. With diabolic machines and cunning enemies closing in, Avenger must outthink Gargoyle's murderous metal creations to save Teena and stop the colony's mechanical uprising.
The Avenger and Teena pursue their nemesis the Gargoyle to Saturn's notorious slave markets, where they go undercover to infiltrate a brutal operation run by the pirate captain Zara. When their cover is blown aboard the slaveship itself, the two detectives must fight for their lives against Gargoyle's gang in a desperate race across the cosmos.
Police detective Jac Lombard and his Shadow Squad partner Bob Trant dive into a case involving dock riots at the harbor, uncovering a sinister plot tied to John Magnus and his submarine freighter, the Nautilus. When a key witness is murdered and the ship prepares to sail under suspicious circumstances, Lombard and Trant find themselves drawn into a dangerous underwater investigation—one that could expose an international smuggling scheme before it's too late.
