Southern Cross #8

Southern Cross continues to deliver some of the most unsettling atmosphere in sci-fi horror comics, and issue #8's cover — penciled and inked by writer Becky Cloonan herself — makes a strong case for why. A woman with blazing red eyes stares out with fierce, unsettling intensity, tendrils of fiery hair swirling around her as glowing hands reach toward her from below, the whole image drenched in Lee Loughridge's cool purples and hot embers. It's a striking piece that captures the series' signature dread perfectly.
