Solo #2
DC's Solo series handed the keys entirely to one creator per issue, and this 2005 installment belongs completely to Richard Corben — writer, artist, inker, colorist, and letterer all in one. The cover, also fully rendered by Corben, announces his presence with visceral confidence: a grotesque, muscular figure looms from the bottom of the frame, its single cyclopean eye staring outward from a face split by a wide, fang-filled grin, painted in Corben's signature bold, tactile style. If you've ever wanted an entire issue shaped by one singular underground-influenced vision, this one — featuring the story "Belzon's Treasure" — makes a compelling case.
