Skullkickers #17

Part five of "Six Shooter on the Seven Seas" delivers one of the series' most striking covers: a red-bearded dwarf plunging helplessly beneath the waves, a storm-tossed ship visible above the churning surface as bubbles trail from his wide-eyed, panicked face. Jim Zub, Edwin Huang, and Misty Coats bring real personality to the moment — there's something both genuinely dire and darkly comic about watching this stocky brawler at the mercy of the ocean. Skullkickers has always balanced action with irreverent humor, and this 2012 Image Comics installment looks like a fine example of that winning combination.
