"The Disappearing Outlaws" features Hopalong Cassidy and his allies pursuing a gang of outlaws who have eluded capture through clever tactics involving hair-growing products and a hair-removal scheme that becomes central to their criminal operation around Rock Head Territory. Rocky Lane appears in a separate story where he and his horse Black Jack track outlaws across the plains toward Gorge Mountain, discovering the gang has hidden themselves in a mountain hideout and used clever deceptions to stay ahead of pursuit. The outlaws are ultimately tracked to their hideout as Rocky pursues them on horseback to bring them to justice.
