Silver Age: Doom Patrol #1

DC's 2000 Silver Age event gets a wonderfully retro showcase here, with cover art by Ramona Fradon and Kevin Nowlan capturing the Doom Patrol — a bandage-wrapped Negative Man in red, a determined Rita Farr, and the Chief in his wheelchair — caught in the middle of a hostile Midway City mob brandishing "Doom Patrol Get Lost!" and "D.P. Get Out!" signs. The scene perfectly sets up the story's title, "The War of the Super-Weapons!," hinting at a team already under siege before any villain even enters the picture. Tom Peyer writes, with interior art by Bachan, making this a fun, period-flavored one-shot that wears its Silver Age heart proudly on its sleeve.
