Shuna's Journey #[nn]

This standalone graphic novel from Hayao Miyazaki, originally published in Japan in 1983, follows the titular prince Shuna as he embarks on a perilous quest to find a golden grain that can end his people's famine. Rendered in watercolor illustrations with sparse text, the story blends folklore and environmental themes in a manner that predates and echoes Miyazaki's later animated works like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. First Second's 2022 edition marks the first English-language release of this previously obscure Miyazaki project.
