☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis issue contains two stories. In the main story, Shorty Shiner, the town marshal, apprehends a group of criminals who attempt to rob the local bank by posing as respectable citizens and gaining the trust of banker Plinkton; during the ensuing confrontation at the bank vault, Shorty's dog Patches helps subdue the robbers. The second story, "Wiggy Wammy," depicts a boy's mishap when he accidentally hits a woman with a ball, causing her to trip and fall repeatedly, injuring her knee in the process.
When Deputy Marshal Shorty Shiner tames the rowdy Tuffy Tanner for throwing rocks in peaceful Green Gulch, he draws the attention of Tuffy's rough older brother Harry—and inadvertently creates the perfect distraction for a larger scheme. Outside town, the Tanner brothers Pete and Luke are busy sabotaging the railroad to intercept a high-stakes arrival: the wealthy banker J. Plinkton III, whose impending management of the local bank has the whole town buzzing with hope. With the marshal occupied, the criminals move to execute their plan—but Shorty may yet prove that peaceable doesn't mean powerless.
