Herndon would not let up on the custodian of his building, whose personal neatness was not very good, and all Sikora could hear was the word "slob" being thrown at him by Herndon. Sikora had had enough and lunged at the man......but Herndon fought back and killed the custodian, and shoved his body into the basement furnace to eliminate any evidence of the crime. But that backfired on the landlord.......the furnace was too filthy and clogged up to sustain a fire!
