The sixth volume of Zidrou and Homs's Shi arrives with a cover that sets an urgent, unsettling tone: a woman in a sweeping dark Victorian dress and a young man flee in terror across a windswept landscape, while an enormous, grotesque green demon looms over them from above, its expression twisted with menace. Homs renders the contrast between the delicate period figures and the towering supernatural threat with real atmospheric tension — a stone bridge and smoldering sky completing the mood. Subtitled La Grande Puanteur ("The Great Stench"), this 2023 Dargaud release promises another richly crafted chapter in one of French comics' more compelling supernatural series.
