The second volume of Zidrou and José Homs's Shi arrives with a cover that immediately commands attention: two figures — a dark-haired young woman and a pale, almost skeletal man — grasp each other desperately above a rooftop engulfed in a roaring wall of fire and smoke. Homs renders the inferno with stunning warmth, the deep oranges and reds churning beneath the pair in a way that feels both beautiful and genuinely dangerous. "De demonenkoning" ("The Demon King") promises the same moody, atmospheric intensity that defines this Belgian-published series, and this 2018 cover makes a compelling case to pick it up.
