Image Comics' mature series Sex reaches its sixth issue with a cover by Piotr Kowalski that is equal parts surreal and arresting — a motorcyclist scrambles up the sheer, towering slope of a giant pair of legs against a warm yellow-green gradient, the scale between rider and limbs making the whole image feel gloriously absurd and oddly tense. It's the kind of visual that captures Joe Casey's series perfectly: human drama rendered in larger-than-life, provocative terms. A strong entry in this 2013 series for readers who appreciate comics that take bold swings in both concept and design.
