Steve Roper stöter på en gammal bekant, före detta fotbollsspelaren Sonny Brawnski. Sonny har startat plastfabrik, men det går dåligt. Någon stjäl från fabriken, ett insider-jobb. Den skyldige är förmannen Hudson Hinckley, som hjälper boven Teddy Harris att stjäla varor för att kunna finansiera lyxiga gåvor till Hudsons danslärarinna, den fala Carol Ferril. Carol och Teddy är i själva verket ett par och lurar bara Hudson att hjälpa dem. Steve och Sonny kommer på sanningen, men Hudson flyr och dör i en trafikolycka. Strax därefter grips även Teddy Harris.
