Lefty Drake hjälper en kvinnlig proffsgolfare, Alison Blaze, som tror att hon är förföljd av en före detta kollega, Mitzi Jones. Mitzi fick ansiktet vanställt i en olycka och skyller nu på Alison. Leftys efterforskningar visar att det inte är Mitzi som hotar och utpressar Alison utan Mitzis före detta sjuksköterska Jane Bradley som klätt ut sig. Jane och maken Clive förolyckas när de flyr. Lefty upptäcker att Alison anlitat honom för att kunna hitta och mörda Mitzi; hon visste för mycket om Alisons förflutna som tjuv. Alison kommer dock för sent – Mitzi dog för 3 månader sedan.
