Joyce and Harry fall in love on the same night they met at a fair. They lose track of time and miss the last boat and train that could have taken them home. When they finally arrive the next morning, Joyce's stepfather throws her out and Harry is fired from his job. Harry uses his savings to start his own business and wants to marry Joyce. But the daughter of Harry's old boss bribes Joyce's stepfather into denying permission for the wedding because she still wants Harry for herself.
