Left an orphan, Jenny travels to live with her aunt and uncle in Paris. Upon arriving in France, Jenny is met by Pierre who helps her and soon they proclaim their love for each other. But France is on the point of exploding in revolution and it is a dangerous time for those loyal to the king. Her uncle vouches for Pierre's character, but Jenny observes Pierre entering a tavern frequented by revolutionaries and later hears him discussing plans with them. When she is discovered listening to their revolutionary plans, her life is put in danger.
