Merle is crushed when her fiancé tells her there is another woman. A close friend of Merle's widowed mother sees the daughter's distress and offers to let them both stay at his estate in Africa as a change of scenery. While there, Merle starts seeing the local colonial police commissioner, but is unwilling to commit to him after her recent breakup. Meanwhile, her ex-fiancé has agreed to smuggle arms to a rebel tribe in Africa. When he learns that Merle is in Africa, he plans to use Merle to help him hide the arms there.
