“The Dreadful Disc!”

In "The Dreadful Disc!", a scientist's amnesia-inducing teleportation device sets off a chain of strange events when a convict uses it to escape prison for two weeks. With no memory of his past, the amnesiac con forms an unexpected bond with his partner on the outside—only to end up stealing the man's share of stolen money. Two weeks later, the device sends him hurtling through space, scattering the loot into a river. When he returns, he discovers his partner has been robbed—by a man who can't remember a thing. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated by Al Eadeh, with a striking cover by Bill Everett, this 1983 tale from Alan Class blends sci-fi intrigue with a twisty, memory-warping mystery.

A scientist creates a machine that can teleport anyone to another location although they suffer amnesia. He offers his services to a prison warden and a convict decides to use it for two weeks to get out of the stir. He doesn't want to have amnesia for more than two weeks because his partner on the outside holds his share of stolen money. The amnesiac con becomes friendly with his partner and robs him of the money. Two weeks later he travels through space, causing the money to be lost in a river. After serving his time he finds his partner who explains he was robbed by a man with amnesia.
