"The Lonely Heart" follows a lonely woman working in the cosmetics department at Lacy's who dreams of meeting the right man and begins a romance with John, a man she meets through her job. As their relationship develops, John encourages her to pursue her acting ambitions, and she eventually lands a role in a Broadway production. However, when she is signed to an exclusive contract with Walter Burnam's talent agency and must leave the city for Hollywood, she realizes that her career success may cost her the relationship with John, and she must choose between her ambitions and her love.
