“Be My Own!”

A beautifully composed cover by Carmine Infantino (pencils) and Bernard Sachs (inks), Secret Hearts #11 layers five emotional vignettes around a woman's oversized face — a couple on the verge of a kiss, a man walking away from a tearful woman in green, a brooding male portrait, and a suitor offering flowers — all swirling together to illustrate the tagline's promise of "Five Faces of Love." Featuring Ann Martin, Counselor-at-Love, this 1952 DC romance anthology captures the push and pull of the heart with the warmth and draftsmanship that made the genre so appealing to mid-century readers.
