Sea Devils #2

The Sea Devils diving team got their own magazine — and issue #2 proves immediately why fans demanded it, with Russ Heath's cover depicting a giant, wide-eyed figure holding a sealed bottle in which three red-suited divers are trapped, miniaturized and helpless against the glass. A tall sailing ship looms in the background, lending the scene an eerie, otherworldly scale that Heath renders with his signature precision. The cover's promise — "A Bottleful of Sea Devils!" — sets up a wonderfully strange undersea predicament that makes this 1961 DC title hard to put back on the shelf.
