Ahoy, mystery fans — this February 1997 Archie Comics installment puts Scooby-Doo and Shaggy in a swashbuckling predicament, teetering on a ship's plank above shark-infested waters while a sword-wielding pirate (complete with parrot on his shoulder) menaces them from behind. Shaggy's speech bubble — "L-Like couldn't we just say we did it?" — captures his trademark reluctant heroism perfectly. Dan Spiegle's lively cover art sets the stage beautifully for "The Scary Schooner," written by Mark Evanier.
