Scooby Apocalypse #29

This 2018 DC series continues to push Mystery Inc. well beyond their Saturday-morning roots, and issue #29's Rags Morales cover captures the tension perfectly — Velma, Fred, and Daphne are pressed together in the ruins of a crumbling structure, Scooby crouched low with high-tech armor as a horde of grotesque monsters, including a massive insectoid creature and a hulking beast looming through a shattered window, closes in from every direction. Writers Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis keep the stakes high with a story titled "Fred(ish)!" — a title that raises plenty of questions about the team's most square-jawed member — while a bonus Secret Squirrel backup rounds out the issue nicely.
