School Friend #209 is an anthology containing three stories. "Trudy and the Chinese Willow Pattern" follows Trudy as she becomes entangled with a mysterious Chinese girl named Lotus Flower who seeks a valuable broken silver disc, leading to intrigue involving an old palanquin and a portrait with hidden significance. "The Silent Three in the Highlands" by Helen Crawford depicts three schoolgirls who discover a Scottish girl named Fiona MacLeod in distress and attempt to help her by investigating a mystery involving a Royal Stag Rock and a daring tricycle adventure. "The Fourth Form Editors" by Penelope Desmond chronicles the editors of the school magazine, Babs and Judy, as they navigate a swimming challenge between their school and a rival institution, with complications arising when their article inadvertently sparks competitive tensions between the boys and girls.
