School-Day Romances #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis anthology issue contains three school-themed romantic stories: "Vittles for Victory," featuring Ginger Snapp, in which a musclebound football player woos a girl at a high school event; "Watch the Birdie" with Midge Martin, following a high school reporter working at City Press who becomes entangled in a case involving a wanted criminal while pursuing romance; and "Eve Adams," set at a College of Noted Dames, where a student named Eve is courted by a professor during a culture tour in Paris.
Toni Gayle sees her shot at stardom when her modeling school announces a photography contest—the winner gets photographed with screen star Matt Idol himself. She enlists her friend Butch and his candid camera to help her win, but her rival Eve Ardor has the same idea, leading to a tense competition as both girls prepare their best poses. When the results are finally revealed in front of Matt Idol and the class, a mix-up turns the whole thing upside down—and leaves Toni with something far more valuable than a movie contract.
When the team's star fullback gets injured right before the big game against undefeated Hadley High, Ginger Snapp disguises herself as "Gary Gordon" to fill the gap—but her plan gets complicated when she realizes the opposing captain is Rick Randolph, the charming boy she met the day before. As game day arrives, Ginger has to juggle keeping her identity secret, managing a budding romance, and helping her team pull off a victory.
Midge Martin, a high-school reporter with an after-school gig at the local newspaper, gets tipped off that escaped gunman Handsome Harry is hiding near her school grounds—so she sets out to track him down and land the scoop. But when a series of mix-ups involving disguises, the girls' dorm, and a loose birdhouse leave her caught between the matron's wrath, Charlie's crush, and the mysterious Phil Wearwell, Midge's hunt for a dangerous criminal becomes anything but straightforward. What starts as a simple manhunt spirals into a madcap tangle of mistaken identity, hidden feelings, and one very unexpected capture.
