Scary Tales #13

The cover by Alfredo de Elías sets a beautifully eerie mood: a hunched, shambling creature lurks among bare, skeletal trees on a burnt-orange forest path, reaching toward a small cloaked figure carrying a basket, blissfully unaware of the horror closing in. Writer Joe Gill and de Elías make for a strong team on this one, delivering the kind of creepy anthology fare that made Charlton's horror line a reliable thrill for 35 cents.
