History

The series was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and ran concurrently alongside the main Torunn Grønbekk/Walter Geovani ongoing Red Sonja volume as part of the character's 50th-anniversary publishing program. Writer Dan Panosian — a veteran of X-Men, Captain America, and early Image Comics work on Prophet — hand-picked his collaborators, assembling interior artist Alessio Petillo (previously known for work at Italian publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore), colorist Francesco Segala, and letterer Dave Sharpe, with editors Marshall Hoyt and Matt Idelson overseeing the miniseries. Panosian also provided cover art for each issue, and the series featured variant covers from Frank Cho, Arthur Adams, and Jay Anacleto, among others.
