Savage Avengers #25

The chapter title alone — "The Defilement of All Things by the Cannibal-Sorcerer Kulan Gath" — sets the tone for what this milestone 25th issue has in store. Valerio Giangiordano's cover depicts Kulan Gath himself enthroned in grim triumph, surrounded by a grim pile of defeated heroes' weapons and armor: Captain America's shield, Thor's hammer, Iron Man's helmet, skulls, swords, and scattered relics of the Marvel universe's mightiest. Gerry Duggan, Patch Zircher, and Java Tartaglia close out this brutal series chapter with the sorcerer looking very much like a man who has won — for now.
