Still in the ectosphere, Philip searches for his body in the real world. He finally locates it, and forces himself back inside. Philip then helps a family by taking the wheel of their taxi, and driving it through a gate into the Vertesque. Elsewhere, Blake Murchison, possessed by four of the Smiths, makes a deal with Paragon John.
