Sad Sack Comics #81

Harvey Comics' long-running everyman soldier gets himself into typically hapless trouble on this bright yellow 1958 cover by George Baker, where a furious woman in a red polka-dot dress delivers a resounding "WHAP" to poor Sad Sack — sending him reeling backward with stars flying and his hat tumbling off. The small inset in the corner hints at even more misadventure near a trash can, doubling down on the comedy of a guy who just can't catch a break. A cheerful ten-cent slice of slapstick charm, "Big Help" sounds about as helpful as Sad Sack's luck usually is.
