Sad Sack Comics #53

Harvey Comics' long-running everyman soldier returns in this December 1955 installment, proudly billed as "Loved by Millions." The cover, signed by George Baker, captures our hapless hero in a perfectly timed bit of slapstick — caught mid-swing with a mop just as the door swings open to reveal a couple of muddy, gear-laden soldiers tracking in a mess he's clearly just finished cleaning. At ten cents, this is warm, good-natured military humor at its most charming.
