Sad Sack Comics #279

Harvey's long-running military comedy series delivers another dose of cheerful chaos in this 1981 installment, with cover art by Fred Rhoads showing our hapless hero wedged inside a telephone booth while fellow soldiers — loaded down with skis — pile into him in a snowy scramble near a "Ski Train" sign. A little dog scampers in the corner as the whole scene threatens to collapse into a heap of army uniforms and winter gear. Rhoads' loose, expressive linework captures the gentle slapstick warmth that kept Sad Sack "loved by millions" for decades.
