Sad Sack Comics #273

George Baker's cover for this 1980 Harvey issue captures the lovable loser at his chaotic best — Sad Sack and a pal have turned a simple house-painting job into a full-blown mess, sprawled on the lawn with paintbrushes in hand while a tic-tac-toe grid of red X's and O's covers the window behind them. A little dog tagged "Muttsy" trots through the wreckage, seemingly the only one keeping any dignity. It's the kind of warm, slapstick charm that earned this series its "Loved by Millions" tagline.
