Harvey Comics' long-running everyman soldier gets himself into prime form with issue #240, cover-penciled and inked by George Baker. The cover finds Sad Sack blissfully snoozing — Z's floating in the air — while he's carried along on a conveyor belt inside a Q.M. Warehouse, completely oblivious as two baffled co-workers look on in disbelief. It's the kind of good-natured, gently absurd army humor that kept this series "loved by millions," and the sidebar portraits of Sarge, The General, Muttsy, and Slob Slobinski remind you just how rich this cast really is.
