Sad Sack Comics #23

Poor old Sad Sack just can't catch a break — the cover by George Baker shows the hapless soldier getting pelted from all sides in a chaotic snowball fight, his rifle abandoned in a snowbank while fellow GIs close in with gleeful enthusiasm and a big "SPLAT!" says it all. Harvey's "Back in the Army Again!" banner sets the tone perfectly for this 1953 fun-packed issue, which promises 23 pages of Baker's warmly comedic take on military misadventure. It's the kind of good-natured slapstick that made Sad Sack a staple of mid-century humor comics.
