Sabretooth #2
The second chapter of the Sabretooth: Death Hunt limited series delivers one of 1993's most striking covers, with Mark Texeira's painted-style art depicting a feral, snarling Sabretooth looming overhead — mane blazing, both hands splayed wide with massive claws extended — while the blue-skinned Mystique occupies the foreground, her red hair flowing upward as she holds a champagne glass and a lit candle with an almost eerie calm. The tagline promises a mission of death and a past life uncovered, setting the stage for Larry Hama's script brought to life by Texeira and colorist Marie Javins. It's a genuinely unsettling composition that makes clear this series has no shortage of dangerous personalities colliding.
