Sara's mother had become a successful writer after the death of her husband twelve years earlier. Although Sara is seventeen, her mother makes her dress in a way that makes her look much younger in an attempt to make herself seem younger. Sara rebels and runs away from home. She meets Bob and helps him and his friends fix up a coffee bar. Afraid that he would send her home, she lies to him and tells him her parents are dead.
