Magda loves making prank phone calls on her job at the office switchboard while Joyce, her younger friend and colleague, covers for her. But she is intrigued by one man's voice and, with Joyce's help, she finally meets him. Their relationship develops, but his job takes him to Australia for two years. He and Magda keep in touch and he looks forward to seeing her on his return. But Joyce has matured from a young kid to a beautiful woman while he was gone and he ends up spending more time with her than with Magda.
