Rupert and Edward are still on holiday with Rollo at the seaside. Rupert finds a gold earring lost by a foreign sailor and is rewarded with a gold coin for handing it over. Sailor Sam recognises it as pirate hoard and tells Rupert they are searching for a treasure map in his possession. Rupert hides the map, is captured by the pirates, but escapes and recovers it. Sam gives him a ship in a bottle.
