Roy Rogers and Trigger #102

This June 1956 Dell issue brings together the King of the Cowboys and his palomino companion in a warmly inviting photo cover — Roy Rogers, dressed in a beautifully fringed and embroidered western shirt and cowboy hat, shares an easy, smiling moment with Trigger as the golden horse dips his head toward a bucket. It's a genuinely charming snapshot of the duo's real-world bond that perfectly sets the tone for the interior tale, "Trouble in Wolf's Head Canyon." With interior art by John Buscema and inking by Mario Acquaviva on a script by Gaylord Du Bois, this is a fine example of Dell's western comics at their most appealing.
