Edna had fallen in love with a builder who promised he would come for her. But a year passed and he never came. Edna left to seek him out in the town where he next went to, but can't find him. With her money running out, she hopes to win the prize money in a music competition to stay in town. She fails and rejects the sympathy of the judge who liked her singing. As she is crying, a plump mum finds her and offers her a job in her stationer's shop.
