Marian gets fed up waiting for Jack because he is always away covering a story for the local paper. She breaks up with him, but follows his career as he joins an expedition to Antarctica for a year. When he comes back he publishes a book and becomes a celebrity. By the time he sees her again, she has changed because she knows now that she can wait for him.
