Romeo #30 January 1965
In "Paperback Lover," Sherry’s lucky win in a "Forecast the Top of the Pops" contest sets off a chain of small, serendipitous moments—tickets to the Mad Hatters Ball, a stack of LPs, and a mystery prize that arrives just as her plans unravel. When work delays her and her friends take the tickets without her, she’s left behind—only for the surprise to knock at her door in the form of a charming escort. Guido Buzzelli’s expressive art brings the story’s quiet charm to life, while Norman Lee’s cover captures the whimsy of the moment.

Sherry wins a "Forecast the Top of the Pops" contest and the prize includes two tickets to the "The Mad Hatters Ball", six LP's and a mystery surprise. On the day of the ball, Sherry learns she has to work late so Bett and Karen take the tickets. But that evening she learns that the goods for the window displays haven't arrived so there is nothing to do at work. She rushes home, but Karen and Bett have already left. Then the doorbell rings, and the mystery prize is a date with an escort to the ball. Without the tickets, she convinces him to stay in with her.
